Im currently putting together a contraption, and am looking for something to trigger (via audio trigger) my mbase11.

midi is taken up with touchosc mbase editor which causes problems when used at same time as midi trigger. and audio trigs gets a tighter sync i find.

what i am on the hunt for is suggestions smallest cheapest drum machine that will be used for this one purpose alone. can be a used, just needs to satisfy the following criteria:

- can slave to midi clock but the key is provide minimal jitter (it is for the kick drum after all - so no room for slop)
- preferably is on the fly editable xox style sequence, or easily able to switch between some pre programmed kick style patterns
- obviously have a simple rim or beep type sound that hits with no delay that i can use as the trigger sound.
- the smaller and cheaper the better

...if however it does have any other sounds i can make use of that is of course a bonus

I currently could do this with my A4 or TR8, but the cv and audio tracks are all taken up so want something standalone purely for control of separate kick device.

definitely a contender. possibly a little big but looks like the top right of it can double as a mini desk for my tt303. (im aiming to go mega compact)

but yeah it seems to check all the boxes so its on the watch list if i see one for a good price.

I know I can send out a trigger to my Juno 6 from my MPC 2500, so I wonder if you could do it from an MPC-500 which you could find cheap.

Give me a few minutess and I'll sample a trigger into my Korg ES-1 Electribe, and see if it can trigger my Juno, that would be cheap and cool too, but around the same size as a 626. EDIT: No luck with the trigger sample, it would trigger sporadically but nothing you could rely on.

Another option but not as cheap, would be an Elektron Machinedrum, the MK1 now UW version, would be the most inexpensive but still have the GND machines which are great for triggering things. Plus, you'd have a killer drum machine.

Maybe see if someone has tried sending a trigger-esque sound from a Volca beats or a trigger sample from a Volca sample. In terms of price and size it would be perfect.

thanks for checkin. i was also thinking volca.. kind of have my eye on volca sample, the size is right. just not sure of the timing. korg sq1 would be good if it could slave to regular midi, would come in handy for other stuff too.

its funny you mentioned the machinedrum. this is actually an issue for me because im currently selling my machinedrum (uw mk2), which is perfect for the job and currently how i do it.. awesome for so many reasons but its got to go as per my plans.
