Know what you are doing. Pay good money only if you really can afford to loose it at any moment too. If you want to have a unit that works reliably for years to come, either buy a plugin or a good unit for a good price AND budget for a professional to overhaul it for you. The insides is filled with vintage electronics. It's life can be extended by proper maintenance and substituting the failing components with new counterparts. But despite all this, the day will eventually come when it will die.
Allot of truth spoken here. I bought the first black versin of the H3000 and it lasted less then a week. No one could fix it apparently.
So I sold it for parts but I didn't give up. I searched for the later version, the grey one H3500.
I searched for about a year to find one locally, where I could actually go and test it first. That was hard to come by, but I finally found a mint one.
Still using it 10 years later on the daily

The good ones exist.
But yeah for real, these units are old and you are always taking a risk with any vintage gear but then I've had new gear of today break down within the first week.
