Also, am I correct in thinking any polyphonic sound must come from the main outs/auxiliary outs? And any monophonic sounds are grouped 2 at a time onto 1 mono channel 1/9 2/10 etc.
Confused about the 16 outputs with 8 sockets thing. So Output 1/9 has 2 voices in it and to isolate channel 1 i have to shut mix channel 9 off?

you would use a "trs insert cable" for the outputs, which is stereo x 2 mono.

Could you elaborate on that a bit? Is the 2 pole SEM style 12/db filter not as effective as the Roland high pass filter in thinning pads? Or maybe too effective and less “musical”?

for that kind of cash use ebay and a "Basic" sellers account for $27 monthly for drastically lower fees. One sell was $800 fee but when I got a basic seller account it was $400 total fees.

2 pole is a bit too steep for gentle global high passing like on the Roland synths for tonal control.

Well, just got my Andy. I couldn’t be happier. This thing is a beast. I don’t understand how anyone could call this thing thin or cold. The pads are otherworldy, the basses have such a clear bounce and almost digital clarity/attack the envelopes are perfect for 3 octave arps, the filters are crispy the midi routing is so deep. I’ve been waiting for this moment, all my life.

you can super warm tones by either reducing the vca drastically, or the filter amp. There's this magical sweet spot with really low settings. What did you end up paying?

Oh good! Phew haha. The side panels are taped. No biggie. I think I’ve read they’re not so sturdy? I thought it was a good price too and was really skeptical about the guts and functionality. The A6 passed all the tests. Some encoders dont respond immediately but if i hit the correlated soft button again and go back and tweak it catches up. Good enough for me. I get the software’s a bit outdated and processing so much at a time. And yea i wouldn’t sell right now! Saw a few more in that range. Can I ask why you’re thinking of letting it go?

One thing I’ve been trying to wrap my head around. Is the keyboard always split/layered in mix mode? Can i have a full range C1- C7 patch on a mix channel, switch to another mix channel with a soft knob and have another C1-C7 patch and play them live independently? Trying to play a full range lead from a midi’d module on one channel and use the Andromeda soft button to change to a full range local patch on another channel

Ahhh yeah, also you may notice navigating to a preset, and all of a sudden you are navigated automatically to a edit screen, that means the potentiometer gave a false write to the os that it had been moved, from sitting, dust, etc. Look at the edit screen and see which knob is the culprit. Then move that knob back and forth for 2-3 minutes, this should make that particular knob not do that anymore, do that for all knobs that have this issue.

Another thing to do to get rid of this alltogether is to deoxify (DEOXIT) the potentiometers, its pretty easy. You can search the forum for it. Its basically lubing the knobs so the contacts have a good electrical contact..

Yes! I’ve heard about using deoxit i think im just gonna give every potentiometer some TLC and really get going. A lotta work will be going into this guy so I gotta get him in the best shape I can first!

Yea MIDI is dead easy to comprehend but with more complex routing there’s a point where my mind turns into mashed potatoes and confuses me.

I’m working with an MPC Live that routes 1-16 channels in both I/O which the Andy is capable of as well. I think I’m having an OMNI issue. Located all the correct TXMODE;GLOBAL KB CH; Disabling panel from KB; etc

I have 4 mix channels going

1 sequenced Arp midi notes only no KB
1 sequenced Rhythm Arp (same settings)
1 live Andromeda Lead KB enabled C1-C7
1 live MPC Live MIDI Pad KB enabled C1-C7

I hear everything. But when I try to toggle between the local A6 patch and the MPC patch using the mix channel soft knobs im not able to switch sounds. Are mix channels not active “tracks”? Are they just “edits”?

I probably have one more area to explore and thats MIXSELECT because I’m thinking now i need the mix channel soft knobs to send a PC message out that echoes back to the Andy from the MPC. So then theyre both informed to change and use the mix channel soft knob to toggle between programs. In this case it’s “MPC track” = “MIX CH”.

I think I’m losing it haha. Sorry for rambling. Trying to fit these experiments into a full work week sucks.

Mix Presets are an array of presets [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8].

Side effects:
-when in mix mode [each preset is static], and can not be modified. They act as a mergedMap, meaning all presets are static, as such the UX of the Andy is in a pseudo performance mode, the front panel augments all [mergedMap] presets globally.

small caveat, I actually havent used my Andy in over 7 years or so so I might be a lil rusty, other folks may need to chime in.

yeah, if you just spend 3minutes on each knob, problems likely sorted for the most part. The downside of using deoxit is that the potentiometers become very unfrictioned. Sometimes having that friction/play lets for more subtle movements, but its also muscle memory, and you adjust pretty quickly to the reduction in friction.

I think the tip most folks highlight is to use the deox super duper sparingly. Like 1/10 of what you might think it needs to be effective. Basically, try for bare minimum. Each potentiometer has a little hole to apply this externally. Its actually quite amazing alesis built this in, no other synths have this feature asfaik, easy to self service.

I will definitely keep in mind to use it sparingly. Yea I’ve noticed some potentiometers are clean as a whistle run through values much quicker than others. I like what you said about the muscle memory gives me hope i won’t go sour on it as i have with buggy synth.

Believe it or not I actually was able to configure everything where i could select a MIX CH or MPC midi program on my MPC and use the keyboard to play live while simultaneously using the soft knobs to cycle through tracks and tweak sequenced A6 mix channels on the Andy in real time! Potent performance features. I’m just trying to see if it does the opposite basically. Where the soft knobs on the A6 select which MIX CH is active on the keyboard rather than the MPC. In any case im starting to think this isn’t actually possible and everything is tied to a split when playing an external instrument on a MIX CH through midi.
