Is there currently a limit per customer in these batches? And if you got one in the current batch do you have to wait a while before ordering another (ie new customers are prioritised?) I like my one, and will probably buy another when they become available again.

No problem at all if you turn both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth off. 30mA is when Wi-Fi off and Bluetooth off.

Bluetooth draws about 80mA when advertising, and when not advertising same as all off - 30mA. I coded it in a way that it turns on to advertise for 0.5s, every 1 to 3 seconds randomly. So in worst case when all 8 cards advertise Bluetooth together, it would draw ~700mA. Not very good but won't hurt anything as it's transient.

I've had the impression of Roland using linear supply, however upon further review, the JV-2080 use the "RH1" SMPS PSU. Although the specs is unknown, this means it can supply much more current with lower heat generation. So you should also be fine with Bluetooth on.

It fits the purpose, which is to program one or several blank boards once in a while and be done with it as a substitute to original Roland boards.

Have you considered developping a Flash only SR-JV80 compatible board, that could be programmed from a "controller" SR-JV80 Wi-Fi one?
I.e. a SR-JV80 Wi-Fi that would be connected to up to 3 passive SR-JV80, the payload of all 4 boards being managed from the main web ui.

That'd be best of both worlds.

I never said otherwise, and just stated my strong preference for wi-fi and a web interface over a hardware programmer and terminal interface.

Currently 4 pcs per customer per batch. Base on the subscription amount, the next batch should not have a limit per customer anymore. Also no waiting period or priority, first come first served, but recurring customers get discount.

I totally get that use case.

However, the real advantage of the Sector 101 Romulator cards was that the programmer can also be used to dump and legally backup a user's existing expansions. From that standpoint there weren't potential copyright problems with Roland. Now that all of the cards have been 'archived' and new builds of expansion compatible waveforms (using both Roland and non-Roland derived waveforms) can be made it does present a potentially thorny issue if Roland were to start enforcing those copyrights. This issue has cropped up in the past to varying degrees.

It may not necessarily be an issue now but it's worth remembering that Roland potentially has the right to pull the rug out from under this if it gets out of hand (eg, someone selling and profiting from one of these rewritable cards with copyrighted waveforms on ebay or Reverb).

That is not an advantage to me. I paid a fortune for the Vintage Synth card that still sits in my JD-990. Would I buy a programmer to rip a copy to put in my JV-2080? No, of course not! The much more convenient and cheaper option is to use a readily available bin file from the web with one of these wi-fi cards.

While the shop is producing the 3rd batch of SRJV cards, I made my version of the dojoe M-RAM card using F-RAM. Should be able to test it next week.

Yes, it won't require battery. The F-RAM is cheaper than M-RAM but still is a high value component. I can sell the card at a price slightly below SRJV, don't know if that's reasonable.

It is more than reasonable! IIRC the original dojoe card was around 75 Euro, or somesuch? I forgot how much it was, need to go through PayPal purchase history going back like 10 years... (EDIT: No can do, Paypal only keeps transaction history for 7 years...)

I didn't think F-RAM came in comparable sizes or was as fast as M-RAM. But hey, if it works it works -- and that might be very useful as a lower cost and lower capacity version.

The advantage is lower cost, the con is reading from F-RAM eventually degrades the data on the card (in some 10-20 years).

I looked back in my records -- it cost me 87 EUR for a dojoe card shipped to Canada in 2021.

So Connor making these for somewhat below SR-JV-WIFI cost is really a solid deal - way better than existing offers of M-RAM clones out there!

If there is a Patchbase iPad/Mac editor/librarian for your particular synth, like the D-50/550/ 1080/2080, it pretty much makes these cards redundant, IMO. But, there will be some that only a card will fit their needs.

That's not what it read. The data retention time is in the decades range. The reading is similar to DRAM that it need to be re-written into the memory array so there are chances in extreme condition that the data will corrupt. But those two things aren't interconnected.

FRAM chips have methods in place to minimize chances of data corruption: a low voltage monitor blocks access to the memory array when VDD drops below VDD min. The memory is protected against an inadvertent access and data corruption under this condition.

Excellent! That's how I imagined it. Someone looking at Dojoe's design and then replacing existing components with more affordable options and modifying design for cost reduction.

Yup, €166 including shipping in the EU for 2 cards (16x256 & 8x512) in 2021.

I'm very fond of MIDI SysEx snapshots of the TEMP edit buffer too, which Roland made very easy to do on the 6A series, especially into the XP-x0 Super-MRC sequencer.

But once getting the MRAM cards, I found browsing extensive patchbanks on the synth quite pleasing, actually.
Especially SR-JV80 ones on the JD (for well known reasons).
But also when buying third party patchbanks for the JD/JV, which you can all store on the multi-bank card in one go, and then keep the (previously backup-ed) internal user bank for a selection of favorites patches or performances.

Thought I should mention that the switches on those dojoe cards are fragile and have broken on two of my three cards.
