I dont like the overlap mate. TBH its stresses me out. I like to make one synth work 125% by finding workarounds and new unique to me workflows. I feel this puts me at my most creative.
I never meant to to own all of them. I bought the 6 of a mate a decade ago but I really don't like synths with no patch memories. However fell in love with the sound. So I got a 60 and put the 6 to sleep (On top of my wardrobe in a flight case ha) The 106 Ive had since 199* The MKS-50 the same.

Not the 60 has a thing called DCB mate. Was just before MIDI caught on or as it was catching on. So Roland thought they would make there own version.
Thanksfully DCB can be translated into MIDI easily with a convertor. I use Kenton. (I love kenton stuff. Never the cheapest but built like a tank and lasts a lifetime)
However the MIDI implementation on the 60 is basic. Where as the 106 its amazing for its day. Every fader sends and receives MIDI.
So the 60's sound has a certain mojo but its not as much as most would have you believe. 10%.
But the 106 leaves the 60 standing for modern day features. And all that from 1980 blonk. Surprised it didnt have USB ha
