I had also missed the CV inputs for the VCA modulation generator. There are separate inputs for level and frequency, along with inputs for attack and release of the envelope. Since these are all singular inputs for the entire synth module it doesn’t seem like they’ll work on a per-note basis, but even with that limitation they should still be useful to add expression.

I just completed the Korg Questionnaire. It was emailed to me 03/26/2025.

In case it hasn't been posted the price is expected to be $14,999 (USD) plus shipping.

At the end of the Questionnaire they let you know if you are selected they will contact you again.

Yeah, I thought that was odd. Since I am not a cat owner (don't shoot me) I am not sure how well I will fare in the selection process.

Yeah, I get the impression this is a lesson learned from their experience with the 2600FS and to a lesser extent the 700s.

Funny, locally to me there is someone who has been trying to scalp a 700s on kijiji for 2x the price for the better part of a year with no takers. I don't have the heart to tell him that he probably should have bought 1/100 of a Bitcoin or something.

I went to an audio show yesterday and I heard turntables (260k), speakers (159k),etc that make this synth seem very affordable. Also, a 5,000$ RCA cable.

Any ideas what this in Global Settings for the reissue manual might refer to?

[PROG. 10] Faithful reproduction of the original sound
The original PS-3300 used a circuit that caused the low end of the output
signal to decay. The new PS-3300 lets you switch this circuit on/off. When
turned on, the circuit faithfully reproduces the sound of the original; and
when turned off, this emphasizes the low end.
Pressing the PROG 10 button (1-14-3) toggles between enabled (the LED
lights up) and disabled (the LED goes dark).

It's time for the obligatory inflation post. The original PS-3300 was something like $7500 in 1977. According to the CPI inflation calculator, that's about $41,000 in today's money. So $18,599 is a bargain, right? Mebbe.

Cherry Audio just put their version on sale for $33, by the way.

While the tarrifs are going to suck for most of us, I'd suspect that if you can afford $15k for a synth you can also afford $18.6k.

I also wonder if Korg has enough profit margin on these that they could absorb at least some of tariff cost.

Not quite. I sold my Jupiter 8 last year in anticipation for this. I was thinking at the time it would be $10,000 US. Well, you know how that went. I'm going to have to take some money out of savings to cover the other five grand. If the price goes up to 18,500, I'll get a fun car instead. p.s. I don't think the tariffs will go into effect. It is all a negotiating tool. And as I write this they have been paused for 90 days to negotiate (except China), so there is hope.

yea, sorry--I'm sure there are some for whom $15k really is as far as you can reach. It just seemed to me that at that price the only people spending that much were people for whom that much wasn't much to spend.
