Can you use MIDI M, N, O, P as source for a patchcord on a P2K ? Don’t think so. At least, doesn’t work on my P2K.

"Any MIDI controller can be routed to any modulation destination. First,you have to know which controller numbers your keyboard transmits. Most modern MIDI keyboards let you select a controller number for each control on the keyboard. For example, it may let you select a number from 0-31 for the data slider. The realtime controller numbers that the keyboard
transmits must match the numbers MP-7 is receiving, otherwise nothing will happen when you move the controls. Suppose you wanted to send the four data sliders on your master keyboard.
MP-7 can handle up to 16 MIDI controllers (A-P) of your choosing. “MIDI A-P” are simply names for the internal connections that link external MIDI continuous controllers to the PatchCord section of MP-7. There are two parts to the connection. First, MIDI controller numbers are assigned to the letters A-P in the Controllers menu. Next, the letters A-P are connected to synthesizer control parameters in the PatchCord section of the Preset Edit menu. The PatchCord Amount scales the amount of each controller by a
positive or negative value."

best to test with a pitch cord, since that will be most obvious

also, make sure local control is on & change messages not set to ignored
then, set "programmable knobs" parameter is not set to external

That works fine on a CS, but the P2K does not have MidiM-MidiP, so there is nothing to link to.

I’m sorry, but I was mistaken, there is no MIDI M-P support in the P2K, all this time I thought it had the same firmware as the CS, oh well, now I know better…

Would have been nice if the P2K would allow MidiM-MidiP, as that would have allowed to use an external controller for M-P. Alas…
This also means that “16-button” roms are better to be put in a CS. These are the MP7, XL7, DRUM, MROM, XROM, PROM, P2500, and of course, SHOCK.

Fair enough. I apologize for coming off so aggressive. It is hard to judge by text alone what ones intentions are, I just took your original comments as condescending and diminishing in the work, time and effort that was put into these chips. You are certainly entitled to your opinions however and you certainly SHOULD ask questions, when it comes to parting with your hard earned money.

I have not looked into Ebay in many years since obtaining these chips from Tim, but I remember them being a bargain at that time, compared to what others were asking for.

Despite the chips feeling 'thinner' in their structure, they are built to the highest quality and I have had zero issues with them. Highly recommend (unless you actually can find an OEM for cheaper!)

FYI, Balma uploaded 49 patterns for the Shock Treatment ROM on the Facebook EMU Command Station User Group, but you need to be a member to download it. Some of the patterns contain very complex programming, so check them out if you haven't done so already. Also I don't know if it's ok to upload the files here, anyway, I will leave that decision to Balma himself...

I put both XL-1 and Mo'Phatt ROMs in my P2500 and they work fine with all 16 knobs, of course, all the presets need to be re-programmed to take advantage of the extra MIDI control knobs, perhaps that's a project for another day... but at least they work in the Command Station.

Yes, that is true. I also have an XL-1 and World-rom in my MP7. It should be possible to load the (16-knob) presets of the XL-7(rom) or XROM, and use them for the XL-1, as these have the same instruments. Problem is, the ROM-ID is different (XL-1 is #7 , XL-7 and XROM are 14. So, conversion is needed for the sysex-files (presets). That’s on my ToDo-list
At least, the ARPs are the same, but XL7/XROM have more riffs, so that is also a “challenge”..,

I've lost the screws for the end cheeks on my XL-7. I'm just wondering, does anyone know the size I need for replacements?

This is a follow on to my earlier post, as well as a somewhat related response to AJ's YouTube video. Anyway, I want to be able to play the XL-7 and MP-7's factory patterns using different ROMs in my Command Station. Why? Just because... 🤓
For those of you that have seen AJ's video, you know that the patterns won't sound the way they are supposed to be, because the ROM is missing from the machine. To get around this problem, you can either put the actual ROM back into the machine, or edit the patterns manually - one track at a time - so they use the currently available presets in the machine. But there is another way... what if you don't have the actual ROM but still want to hear the patterns like they were originally intended without having to edit the patterns manually? Then you can do the following:
1. convert the preset banks, e.g., in my case, the XL-7 and MP-7 to the XL-1 and PHATT respectively, and save them as user banks;
2. change all the ROM ID's in the patterns to "00", so the Command Station will refer to the user banks, instead of the ROM banks.
Obviously, the above method only works if you have the ROM from the same family in your machine, because they contain the same sound samples or Instruments used by the presets.
[EDIT 07/14/2022] For the converted patterns to work in the Command Station, you need to save the converted banks as User banks in the Command Station, therefore, you can only play one converted ROM at a time, since the converted patterns always refer to the User bank.
The converted banks for the MP-7 and XL-7 can also be downloaded from the Files section.
You can find the converted preset banks and patterns for the XL-7 and MP-7 ROMs in the Files section. I only tested some of the patterns, and they seemed to work, but if you find some that do not sound right or just plain don't work, please let me know.

Are we ever going to see more tutorials on the Shock Treatment ROM? In particular, on the LINK presets? Or is Balma too busy working on the next FIZMO ROM?

This is just wrong.

Tim sells ROMS, he is authorized to sell. He has licensing from the original artists, for the ones he currently has for sale. This is not to say he cannot remake any ROM available, as the process would be the same. This is not the issue.

Tim has said in the past that he can make ROMS that are OWNED by someone, but they are BROKEN. He aims to give this user a working ROM again. These ROM are made specifically for this purpose and were not to be doubled in price and sold for profit on the side. The only reason this ROM is the only one in existence for sale, is because Tim probably made this for a user who had a broken ROM and now it has made its way onto the market. This is the issue.
