I'm a bit confused why would they want to release a new BS3. The BS2 seems still to be popular; it doesn't have any good competitors in the price range (either you go with Monologue which has smaller feature set; or Behringer that have no patch memory); why would they upgrade it? I think it's more likely to see something that would compete with the small Korg polys (Minilogue, Wavestate, etc); especially given how I've heard some people commenting on Nova engine being outdated (also if they develop a new digital engine, they could reuse it in third generation of circuits a few years from now).

why..? because it's old, it's 2 octaves, it can be updated with more keys and more of everything, it is way past being updated time. The AFX wasn't really an update more a special edition. BS3 would compete with Moog sub37 and Pro3..

Even a BS3 with a third oscillator would be cool (3x real CEM 3340 VCOs, they exist because Doepfer has been using them).
Give it a bonus Wasp filter in memory of Chris Huggett.

People say it's a crowded market now the mono, 3 octave etc but there's always more room for more imo, as more and more people get cracking with this hobby/pastime etc.. the more we have to choose from the better.

It may be a crowded market but a lot of them don't appeal to me. I won't list examples because I don't want a flame war. Let's just say that I'm still open to be surprised by a new mono. Nothing has quite filled my needs to the point where I don't want more.

Also, I'm a studio head, not a live musician. Mono synths are much more powerful in a studio than they are on stage, and I'm always open to more timbral variety.

They actually look like great controllers for Ableton etc. I'd quite like one, except i've no space for something that is simply a controller. Using a midified SH-101 as a controller is starting to grate a bit

What's that for? I've seen other people request that feature before but I can't wrap my head around what you would do with it.

The Nord Modulars responded to it and the G2's keyboard actually transmitted the information. Basically the speed with which you take your fingers off the keys when you play determines a MIDI CC value. You could e.g. have a long amp env release time when you slowly back off the keys, short when you jump off quickly. It's nothing revolutionary but it seems like a nice expressive option and for me is easier to control than aftertouch.

I bought both! And I've already found something that the MiniNova does that the Hydrasynth Explorer can't.

The Launchkey 88 looks good, and I would have considered buying it if it had been available when I purchased the Nektar GXP88. But the Launchkey really could use aftertouch.

Ah, makes sense. I guess it's also useful for hammer noise on piano samples.
