That’s just the voice allocation. You have to set it to Single and then it sounds right.

I've been gassing for a Jupiter X for a few weeks now. Watching videos and reading threads about it every day, saving pictures of it to my phone, playing around on Zenology trying to recreate my Juno patches etc.

Anyway, I think all this has done is led me back to my System 8 and realize I already have what I need. I would love to have all the XV, RD and drum machines in one synth with a faithfully recreated selection of vintage gear, but I don't think it's close enough, just my opinion of course as I know some of you love the ABM expansions.

I think the best thing would be to keep my System 8, and maybe in a few years Roland will figure out how to get more polyphony and models out of ACB for an affordable price and we'll get a hybrid of the S8 / JX.

That or wait for lord Uli to trot out the clones, but discussing that would probably massively derail the thread, lol.

I do appreciate the Jupiter X for what it is though. Having all of those sound possibilities in one unit is incredible. If the ACB stuff didn't exist, I would be all over this synth.

I will probably use the System 8 for my next few projects and then move on to new gear to refresh my sounds, but if I had a Jupiter X, I think it'd stay with me for years due to the sheer amount of content in one synth.

As discussed in other threads, people have their opinions and that's great. No synth is perfect. The thing that really sets the JPX apart form the S8, for me, is the mass layering and polyphony.

Having multiple JP8's, layered with Juno 106 and JX8P etc, with no cutoffs on long sustained pads with superb inbuilt f/x is almost heaven itself. I think I was attracted because of this feature more than anything else. (The Korg Trident and JDXA had the same beauty for me).

I had always hoped Roland would have done a System 8'm' (Like the System 1m). It would have been more convenient to have the ACB stuff as another layer, with out it having to be another huge keyboard in your rig. ie, I really dig being able to have my Sys-1m and D-05 sitting above my JPX sometimes.

Hey, I wanted to Thank you. A couple of days ago I acquired a used Jupiter-X and I remembered what you had said about the voice allocation and the issue that I had with the Jupiter-Xm dealing with some phasing with the ZenCore Models like the Juno-106. I found the Voice Allocation in Scene Edit and changed it from Limited to Single and that did correct what was nagging me about how the sound triggered now its sounds more the way I was hoping it would. Do you know if that can be done on the tone level or just within the scene? Anyway I wanted to reach out and thank you again for mentioning that. Sorry it took me so long but I honestly gave up on the Jupiters but the latest updates intrigued me enough to want to try the larger Jupiter-X. Unfortunately it is not in stock anywhere so I found a used one to buy and try. Now I am waiting for it to come in stock somewhere because it is sold out at all of the retailers I use and the ETA is months out to buy a new one. In the mean time I'll use this one to learn on.

I don't think you can save it on the tone level. But, you could make a scene with a bunch of models in it, set to single for each zone . And every preset you pull up in that scene will have that same voice allocation. I'm on Fantom, but I think it should be the same for the Jupiter X.

Yes I no longer have the JP-X but recall this being the case. Must be saved as Scenes.
