I’m a huge fan of BBD based delays, choruses, and flanges. I don’t think the Dimension D and 3rd Dimension are uniquely special, but they do sound great to me. They’re more subtle than some of the other BBD based effects. Here’s a list of some other options. Many use the same Coolaudio V3207 BBD chips, except the EHX models, which I believe use Xvive BBDs instead. They Coolaudio and Xvive BBDs are both clones of the Panasonic MN3007, which is no longer in production. Most of the difference in sound comes down to the LFO rate, depth, and mix blend with the original signal. These are all pretty similar, vibe wise (dark, dirty chorus/flange).
- Boss CE-2W Chorus
- Boss DC-2W Dimension C
- EHX Small Clone
- EHX Electric Mistress / Walking on the Moon
- Echo Fix EF-P3 Chorus Vibrato
- Maestro Comet
- MXR Analog Chorus
- TC Electronic Afterglow
- TC Electronic 3rd Dimension
- TC Electronic June 60
- Behringer UC200
- Behringer Chorus Symphony
BBD delays are also awesome (Memory Man, Rubberneck etc), but that’s probably a discussion for a different thread.
