Seems like they are trying to do too much too fast, they have so much gear announced but very little is ever available in stores here in oz. This is now showing up as poor quality control, these kinds of MIDI issues are super basic to pick up if you are using these things at even a most basic level.

I mean could you imagine the godfather of midi getting it wrong time and again or having faulty HW and SW in premium releases? Or 1 of the oldest Japanese synth makers in the world screwing up a flagship for a year. Or the so called golden eagle having massive issues with its hardware and software etc etc etc.......That would never happen right? This has to be a dystopian dream of mine

not awful and not faulty, they just don't operate in one way that the OG does, maybe they will change it but maybe they don't see it as broken as they never intended for it to operate that way, the same way they used their own sequencer instead of the OG version. See how i don't use the word fix? Fix implies a fault, you have no idea how this was designed.

you waited all of about 2 weeks (24 sept to 8 oct) between getting RD8 and getting the fix for midi on/off triggering issues - let's not blow it up

your main moan during and after this fix was it was not velocity sensitive to 127 levels and the reasoning you used for this 'failure' was because kenton did a RETROFIT box for the 808 that you own, now that may seem fair to you but the kit was never sold as velo sensitive and it was a desire of yours, not a design fault. You returned the rd8 start of december iirc.

the rd8 has a small issue left hanging regards external triggers which we are all aware of, it is A PITA for some but not rendered unusable for the majority of users it would appear, this last fix is due i am sure and i fully expect it even though i couldn't care less about it

That's the problem when you clone things, but don't have people with real knowledge/passion behind it, e.g. the 101 glide being a perfect example.

Hopefully the recent evidence of B hiring more clued up people in their teams should reduce these farcical situations.

A straight DX7 reissue would probably cost the same or more than an actual DX7, which lately can be found easily for around $500. Why not just buy one?

Mine double triggered in multiple positions in a pretty wide range.. sent it back already.. I'm not in the habit of paying someone else so I can beta test the gear..

I just opened a ticket as they write something about a V1.0.6 firmware in the manual and changed trigger conditions, while Synthtool offers no upgrade and no extra value for multi-triggering (0,1,2 in V1.0.6). Let's wait and see. I have 6 days left for full money back at my store. Right now my workaround is not to use VCA-decay and leave it completely off, while sustain is full opened. That's a simple gate-style behaviour which works för sequencing, but no option for played melodies who need that feature.

Returning the goods and money back is the clearest reaction to avoid such malfunctions before delivery in the future.

Honestly, I would like a decent video tutorial on the wasp. I am at the point where I don't know what is expected vs the original -and "I love the sound" but I need some "real" advice from the manufacture. (yes, I am an owner- owner of a Behringer Wasp)

I would really appreciate a walkthrough because it is powerful but there are some nuances - My opinion is that it would be really appreciated.

They asked for a video and my settings and i gave them what they needed. For me this process takes too long. Now the synth is on its way back and i can be sure the next Wasp will be fully functional.

Hi Jamie, glad your chiming in here, I respect your posts a lot.
I had gigs that I was REALLY hoping to use it with instead of the orig, i ended up having to take the original which was pretty stressful, I wish i had never bought the Damn RD8 and saved myself a whole lot of wasted time and worry.
Gigs are stressful enough without having to worry whether brand new gear will work or not on top of everything else... I learnt my lesson..don't trust Behringer!
It seemed like years waiting for that fix and it never came still hasn't.
I had to have two lots of flightcases on standby..

I used to buy equipment completely expecting it to work with basic functionality, in these sad time$ that is not a viable position anymore, unfinished software is one thing but now it's happening with hardware, it's a disgrace.

Yeah that is a fair point this is not 'broken' technically speaking but it's a bloody tragedy.. and things like being able to switch between Congo's and Toms in the sequence like the system 880 euro 808 can would have shown nice attention to detail+probability per instrument..just so ru$hed out all this stuff or maybe Uli was just really excited to get it out there and if that's the case he needs to chill back and bring all his stuff up a few levels..
I mean on the Wasp there is no CV ins at ALL ! wtf..A modular eurorack module without CV ins? I mean come on, what the hell are they doing..

I think in time that will change for a lot of people when they decide they want to sequence the RD8 from their computer or hardware sequencer and they will be very sad and annoyed something SO simple doesn't work properly.
I call this a BIG problem and indeed it was big enough for me to get rid of it.

What I'm most sad about is just the lowering standards of hardware...and wasted opportunities.

I have had defective gear from a few manufacturers, just never Behringer....luck of the draw I guess.

Behringer gear I have had are the Boog and Neutron, currently I have a few effect pedals and the RD-8.



The Wasp issue seems like something that could be fixed with an update, time will tell. I would be mad too, but I am a cheapo and usually wait for bargain basement used deals.

I feel kind of silly that I didn't know about the "spider" sequencing module...

Yes, pretty sure. I think it was their main synth at that time. They got a Juno 60 for live work later on, and they used a string synth too.

About Behringer Wasp Deluxe double trigger, mine had this problem, but i found a quick fix, all you need is one 100k resistor and a soldering iron.
Solder the 100k resistor between the cathode of D11 and pin 7 on IC36.
That stopped all double triggering on my Wasp.
If 100k should not work, try 82k.
