I wouldn't say the S2400 is bought for ease of use. The MPC has a huge touch screen and is easy to navigate. The S2400 you have to remember key commands and how the envelopes and faders work in the modes. S2400 is def more esoteric.
Would be interested to hear comparison audio if you get a chance. I know it's not the same thing but you can always sample the layered MPC pad into the S2400 as well. I had an MPC live and keys that I both sold but kept the 2400. Miss the MPC's some but will never the sell the S2400 because I prefer the sound.
OK, but one thing I’ve learned is not to focus on gear first, but to start by selecting genre reference tracks. To listen carefully, then produce and mix with a goal and match to taste—whether in the box or with hardware.
Once I're close, I fine-tune the result with analog gear if needed.
