I have a TR-8S and newly a NTS-1, but no experience so far with midi and external trigger.
My plan is to connect them and control the NTS-1 with the TR-8S.
I still not found any documents in the internet how I can do this.
Have anyone experiences with this configurations and can help me?
You'll need a DIN MIDI cable and a type A DIN to TRS MIDI adapter. Connect one end of the DIN cable to the MIDI OUT on the TR-8S, and the other end to the DIN side of the adapter. Plug the TRS end of the adapter into the MIDI IN on the NTS-1.
I'm not familar with the TR-8S but I think it's multi-timbral meaning each track on it is on a different MIDI channel. The NTS-1 is on MIDI channel 1 by default (but can be changed in the setup menu). Set both to the same channel, and you should be able to send notes to the NTS-1 via the TR-8s. MIDI clock can also be sent to the NTS-1 to sync its arpeggiator to the TR-8S tempo as well.
Hi kpatz
thank you for your reply.
I've ordered a midi cable an I will try it, but I'm not sure that I have enough knowledge to address the nts-1.
If I have some problems I'll be back.
Thank you and regards
Andreas
