Typical early 90s edm bass for example. But only when playing very slow. But always on the first note.
Messing with the attack and release changes the overall sound. The reason i say think is because i can not recall having this behavior prior to the update, but maybe somebody can correct me and tell me this was noticeable before.
A bit confused though. So you are saying the .SYX will revert back to the factory firmware or do i need to obtain the 1.2.8 firmware?
And where would i get it?
I need to try it. I think SynthTribe will just (re-)load the latest software. I don't think you can use it for older versions. Having said that, the TD-3 folks have taken older .syx firmware files and reflashed older OS's into their TD-3's using MIDIOX or SendSX or whatever.
A couple of thoughts ...
If one isn't using SynthTribe, then I don't think you are stuck using the USB cable and any MIDI interface to 5-pin DIN MIDI would work too. That's a guess at this point though.
Knowing how (MIDI) reflashing works in general, there will be a series of F0...F7 data packets. After *some* of them the synth will burn the received data to flash. This takes time (not sure, but guessing 10's or milliseconds). Problem is, we don't know after which packets the burn phase happens. So, we need to delay the download after every F7 to be save. MIDIOX has a setting for this:
Sysex -> Configure -> Delay After F7 : 100ms (a guess)
Finally, elsewhere I have read that SynthTribe loads .syx files from a Behringer server somewhere and they are stored locally/secretly on a PC during a synth firmware update. I have not been able to verify that, but there are firmware files out in the ether, so someone got there hands on them somehow.
