"Okay everyone, here's what I'm thinking. Every synth thread that I visit (especially for new gear) folks are begging to hear demos of said synths. Very often (too often, in my opinion) everyone wants to hear dry demos or A\/B comparisons of oscillators, etc, etc. While there is nothing inherently wrong with wanting to hear these things it seems to ignore the fact that this is not how we hear synths in the world nor is it (I don't think) what inspired us to get into music or synths.~ \nI wanted a Prophet, a Crumar and a Jupiter because of what Nik Rhodes did with them on the Duran albums and every one of those tracks were affected heavily by the effects he and the producers used. The synths were still awesome without effects but the dry sound or a dry demo is not what made me pine for them; it was their sound and use in a [I]real [\/I]music setting that was the draw for me.\n \n~So, here is what I'm shooting for; I want a thread that puts every awesome synth performance we can find in one thread. I want you to post videos and\/or audio performances using synths on this thread. They can be old Duran videos that inspired you, as mentioned above, they can be Firechild videos you find extraodinary (I could be his number one fan or pretty close, so I won't post them) or they can be videos of folks just making great music on synths as I have posted below. You can post performances of crazy solos, synth bands; they can be live or from a studio. Let's get them all if we can.\n~\"Why now, Knoch?\" you may ask Well, recently I've been preparing to purchase a Baloran River. Laurent, the designer, has based the oscillators on the Moog Source synth. In my 30 plus years owning and playing synths I have never once considered purchasing a Source. As I searched for demos I realized why; most of the Source demos, to me, are uninspiring. That is, until I found the one below. I now understand that a synth sounds best when it is making music. I may be nuts and no one may want to post anything (that would make me sad) but I urge you to do this. I love to put these type of compositions on in the background when I work, maybe you might like this, too. Help me out; fill up this thread. p.s. Digital or Analog is fine.\n\n[YOUTUBE]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ehcEBhNLuxo[\/YOUTUBE]\n[YOUTUBE]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aeujZtBvMFY[\/YOUTUBE]"
