I'm guilty of this, and actually stopped myself from doing it in my previous post, then I read your comment. It's a bit like saying "I played (the) piano last night". Both with and without "the" sounds correct to me. In my previous post, I wrote that "I have a 21.5" monitor behind (the) Push", and I think both are correct.

I actually reckon this is fake, it doesn't make any sense for Ableton to do this is and alienate a lot of their users.

i'm sure it's not fake. push has been out for almost 3 years. it looks like it's running the same course as maschine. the only difference is that push is deeply integrated with the daw and maschine offers a daw to put in your daw (i feel an xzibit meme coming on). the more i think bout it, the more i like the idea of audio I/O and hopefully midi so you can sequence things inside Push (with saving sequences inside the Ableton project so if you open up a new session, the external sequences are loaded as well). this would be great. maybe integrate some a usb hub for other controllers as well (maybe the basic push can connect like that and expand the big one). lots of possibility. and tbh, ableton had a very good controller the first time around (bar a few minor issues like mod wheel etc) so i'm sure it's gonna make sense once we have all the details. if it's just a new push with a small colour screen and few improvements, not sure it's gonna be worth the 800 bucks.

I just bought push a couple of months ago but it covers what I need and I got it at a good price. Tbh screens aren't huge sellers for me when I have 3 hd flatscreens right in front of me, I bought it for the sequencer.

As to why they would do this, same answer as it is for EVERYTHING; $$...

It's not fake. I don't see why everyone is so irate? It's not like Push will become redundant. It seems like a well thought out update based on feedback to me. I liked Push when I tried it but felt it still lacked something when trying to use it without looking at the computer. This addresses what I didn't like about the original and makes it more like using an MPC for writing. Ideally I would like it stand alone but this is the next best thing. It is priced at £499 which is the same as the original when it was released. They can take my money...(and I'm a Pro Tools guy!)

I just bought The Push ;-) this summer. I honestly feel a bit salty about this if it's true, but hey... Not Ableton's fault I'm late to the party. I don't think I'd upgrade at that price. Really, it looks like the same damn thing to me with a fancier screen. I'm not tucking my Mac away and trying to use Push while pretending to not use a computer. I also don't need an audio interface either.

What's more infuriating than anything is that they failed to add another touch strip so pitch and mod are still not simultaneously accessible. Seriously, guys?!!!! WTF?!!! That was a major design oversight to begin with.

sounds the exact same exxcept for that and multicolour \screen.......


but seriously...its not like the push2 will have 128 pads its the same thing....so its not a huge difference.....the sampling thing might be cool though for chopping stuff up on the go

they say better build quality. the first one is rock solid. though the very heavy piece of metal at the bottom helps with that feeling you have. but the buttons and knobs feel really good. i guess they will improve the text on the buttons, different sensitivity pads (though i don't really have issues with this right now).

Total guess, but I'd say just an upgrade to add in whatever features they need to support the display and other hardware changes on the Push 2. Live 9 wasn't exactly a tremendous upgrade over the 8, so it's good this one will be free.

Kinda seems like they've looked at the MPC Ren and Maschine and taken parts of them for Push 2. Probably a good move. Glad I didn't take the plunge on Push 1, I very nearly bought one on Ebay today. €799 kind of puts it into a different bracket though, it would want to be quite an upgrade unless that includes Live 9.5

I'm sick and tired of companies making minimal hardware improvements and releasing new versions of VERY EXPENSIVE GEAR. I just bought my Push about a year ago, and now it might be outdated? Come the **** on.

Push has been around for 3 years. Why wouldn't they update it? Sorry mate but if you think that's expensive, lord only knows what you would think of my TDM system i paid 20k for that is now vastly superceded by a Mac mini! Still works fine though..

Push 1 is very well thought out and it's an amazing peaice of kit. I, personally, don't see Push 2 making it outdated. If I want to edit a sample, I'll look at my gorgeous 27" monitor. I wouldn't prefer a 2" X 8" low res display built in push 2.

Using the push 1 reminds me of my MPC 60 workflow. You forget about waveforms using the text display. It takes you to a different place. I love it!! Best of both worlds.

FTR I'm not angry at Ableton. I know a lot of people will be, because of their reasons. Of course, lots of those people will buy it, and Ableton get to keep making money, all of which I'm perfectly happy with.

why would anyone be angry at Ableton for releasing Push 2?

because they bought Push a month and a few days ago so they can't return it. but i'm sure that it will be fine using it for years to come. just like maschine mk2 didn't die once maschine studio arrived.

If Push 2 is basically Push 1 with a bigger color display and a sound card built in, I'm not remotely interested. But I could see the market value in it for some. I just hope they keep Push 1 users in mind for future Live releases and not make it an afterthought.
