Something a little different. Film audio is still audio and it seems sometimes neglected or even looked down upon as of secondary importance compared to the vision. Here's a little video I made about transferring perhaps the most difficult magnetic stripe on movie film from which to extract good quality sound, the tiny magnetic "balance stripe" on a consumer Super 8 film shot decades ago. Comments welcomed.
Thanks Thomas. My YT demo is probably pretty meaningless though, without knowing how difficult it usually is to play back these tiny mag stripes well. We really need comparison transfer files.
I've long felt the only way to judge how well we've transferred an old analog audio format is to make the original tape or disc available for others to make their own best transfer to digital so we can compare each attempt and discuss its merits. Obviously for various practical reasons it's often not easy to arrange that but it seems a good ideal to aim for.
