are these the only patches that can load in GB and can't in logic pro x?

Yes, exactly. These are the new patches that came with the latest Garageband update.

I'm sure we'll see the same features but I'm actually hoping that they will be advanced versions of it in Logic. It would be great if we could automate the 'square' too and not just manually move it with the mouse. Very similar to the Drummer feature and probably my greatest annoyance with it, you can't automate the yellow 'puck'.

Which name are you referring to? Alchemy? Well, since Apple bought Camel Audio it doesn't exist anymore and therefore, there is nothing really to honor..

July 7th is the last day you can download camel products, so I guess we could be seeing it in logic really soon.

"Modern Synth 2" does this imply that there's more than one new synth coming our way?

"Modern Synth 2" actually refers to the Smart Controls layout. Currently you have Modern Synth Layout 6, 8, 10 (I think?) and 12. It just refers to how the number of knobs. These new GarageBand patches do indeed have only 2 knobs.

Nice find. I'm looking forward to some of the old CA effects almost as much as Alchemy.

hi i dont use garageband and can't find it on apples website but I remember seeing a quote saying they were going to add features to garagebands piano roll? what happened with that? did they just give it logic features?

Didn't see anything new to the Garageband Piano Roll, I think all they did was add more Quantize parameters.

I just downloaded to the recent version of Logic Prox finally(w. Alchemy).. I do see my Camel Audio purchases from 2 years ago..

BTW, anyone know where to get ICELAND sound set?

I've read that the old Alchemy patches need to be edited. These stock patches seem pretty underwhelming.

Where did you read that?

I just put my presets in a new folder off my user folder
Music/Audio Music Apps/Plug-In Settings/Alchemy/MyPresets

Then I put all the samples in the existing
Music/Audio Music Apps/Plug-In Settings/Alchemy/Samples

Then I loaded Alchemy, did a "Refresh Library" and in my case, I went from 3132 Presets to 7720 Presets.
Granted, some are duplicate but it was just going to take too much time to figure out which I had, both the ones I bought and the presets I found on the web.

I can’t recall where I read it. I’ve been doing a lot of searches about synths and info lately as I recently am trying my hand at music creation in the electronic genre, coming from mostly classical/classical/hybrid and experimental music. I just have Diva(Luftrum 9,11) right now and getting Zebra 2 soon.

I’ll give this a try with some of the free online patches.

Alchemy only showed 314 presets but the content download option in Logic Pro X showed all content had been downloaded. So I hit the download all button and got the rest of them and what ever else.

Question, I have the original Alchemy and now the LOGIC Pro X Alchemy version. I bought lots of packs 2 years ago like LUFTRUM, DREAM VOICES, Cinematic, etc.

I do see it on my Logic Prox, but I'm interested in this one particular sample pack called "ICELAND" How can I get that ? Is Logic selling it? because I don't see it on the download.


Lastly, is Logic creating Alchemy packs ? Thank you for reading, let me know how I can get ICELAND sound pack for Alchemy.

These days btw, I still use the original Alchemy but can't buy the Iceland anymore as Camel Audio is now gone.

I do not know about the older banks, though you might just google the name and find the designer. Potentially KVR is a good place to start, and there's a sound designer on there named patchpool who created a seemingly very good one for Apple's update late last year. He too creates banks for the likes of UVI's Falcon.

I received an email this weekend from Loopmasters, perhaps this one is good too: Loopmasters Pro Sample Packs, Download Royalty Free Sounds, Sample Libraries, Boutique Loops

EchoSoundWorks does all of his tutorials for ADSR on Logic, he too develops presets for synths such as Serum, so perhaps he has a bank in the works. I have heard him reference how much he likes the amazing synth, in his words.

I have watched his Dune 2 videos and they are quite good, and he does a lot with Spire, so it's quite possible Alchemy is on his radar given he's big Logic supporter.

As for the Camel Audio banks, I believe Alchemy is quite old so the bank itself might be tough to find even in the aftermarket, if there is one; I've never thought of looking for presets on message boards or ebay. Lord only knows what IP / license transfer issues someone could cite, and I'd bet money someone would. However, I cannot imagine any jurisdiction enforcing such laws even if they could given the convoluted nature based on the change in ownership and fluid statutes of limitations.

I know this is an old reply but.. Were you actually able to use all of the presets? I just moved all mine from the old Camel Audio folder into the same place you did. Refreshed the library and now I have 1000+ presets showing up, but a lot of the ones Ive tried to play from the old version keep telling me 'Unable to locate'. Did you have to do anything special with the samples, or did you just leave them in the old default folders and put em all in the Samples directory??

EDIT: Ok this is odd.. I CAN use them but I have to use the Logic drop down menu to dig through the presets. I can't use Alchemys handy dandy browser. After I open one with the drop down menu THEN it works in the browser. Jeez this is gonna take along time unless someone can point out an easier way to get them to work in the browser.

EDIT #2 : Figured out what I was doing wrong.. I was double clicking on the presets in the browser window which apparently freaks Alchemy out. After that everything starts popping up the 'Unable to locate' message. Closed Logic, reopened it, made a 1 track song with Alchemy loaded up, and it works fine if I remember I only have to single click on a preset. Cool I got my old patches and my old third party libraries back up and running now! Guess I can finally get rid of the old CA version.
