cool to see film composer around here. i have a question, maybe off topic, its more on the music side of things. im trying to write with orchestral samples-viennachamber, EWSO plat- and i just dont get it to work. its sounds too fake/midi-ish and i get put off by it.

from what point u know that as a sample a riff/motif sounds kinda bad but will sound great with a real orchestra?
do u sketch a scene with piano or generic string patch and then dweul into it doing orchestration, diferent violin sample etc. ?
or u start with a good violin section sample/?
i gues it candepend no... but a walk through process would be nice to have in a book.

any resources on music for filmsscoring? not the guide to scoring by my ex teacher richard davis type of book which explains the process that i know well.

more on the music side...cliches, modes for moods, spotting etc. im trying to get my music theory to work on film.
