Please, RME, develop a workaround so that DUREC files can have a timestamp. That way folks like me who almost never have a problem during the recording can easily locate the DUREC life preserver when things don't go as intended.
IIRC, the reason for this, is that the UFX doesn't contain a time-clock chip. No way to set date and time in the interface.
It's an oversight for those of us who do DUREC mode recording, but since that mode seems to be a late addition ("hey, look what we've figured out how to do with this!") like the iPad/TotalMix control, I don't think they were thinking that far ahead. They didn't know how many of us would be doing this.
Anyway, it's down to manual record-keeping and quick transfer from the flash drive to the edit computer here, since DUREC to a flash drive is about 80% of what I do with the UFX.
Also, as an update since this is an older thread -- my iPad 2 is working fine in standalone DUREC mode as an easier-to-use control screen than the unit's LCD and buttons. Very nice! I wish it was wireless instead of hard-wired, but I'll take what I can get.
