I want to do some field recording, and will be driving to a couple of locations.
I will be using Cubase on my laptop.
Option A is my Scarlett A.Int. which has phantom power, and will work with the laptop via USB. Option B, which I would prefer, is my BAE 1073. How would I power the BAE? I am assuming I can't hook it up to my car battery...
I record remotely sometimes. Especially vocals - have a female vocalist who likes to climb mountains and sing with natural canyon echo..
I use a little cotopaxi backpack with solar panel and a goal zero battery pack (charged by the solar panel)
Neve 88M with a U87 and/or tube mic of your choice and two pairs of headphones. MacBook Pro w/ ProTools installed. The 88M is bus powered.
I use a light weight camera tripod that doubles as a hiking stick. Bought a little adapter and it will hold a U87 no problem, heavier tube mics I have to put rocks on the tripod to prevent tipping over. The tripod thingy can telescope to be small enough to clip to the backpack as well.
Have room for some water bottles and a little nosh. Backpack also has a blue tooth bose speaker clipped to backpack as well as a dji Pocket Osmo 3 gimbal camera which can take videos of hiking and the performance, etc... just a cool thing to have. The backpack also has a little pouch for some herb for those who partake - lol.
I should note the whole thing with say a U87 and U67 or M49v (I usually just bring one or the other of the U67/M49v tube mic) costs less than $20k.
