As of Dec 2024 WeTransfer has curtailed their free service quite significantly, to the extent I can't make it work for my purposes...mainly due to the reduced number of transfers per month allowed.

Free version now is:
"Increased file size limit. You can now send files up to 3GB in size (increased from 2GB).
Monthly transfers cap. Going forward, free users can complete up to 10 transfers and share up to 3GB-worth of files every month"

The 3GB limit is now a per-month one, not per transfer as previously...but in either case the 10 transfers per month is the downfall for me.

Looking at the paid options....their $13 per month Starter Pack still has a 10 transfer per month limit

"Higher file size limit. You can send files up to 300GB in size.
Monthly transfers cap. Complete up to 10 transfers and share up to 300GB-worth of files within a 30-day period"

Their $34 per month Ultimate Pack has, as you'd expect, "the Share and receive limitless Unlimited transfers per month. Transfer expiry up to 1 year. Custom branding per transfer. Unlimited reviews and portals. Subscribers benefits"

This is great news for me, I hate receiving WeTransfers

I much prefer getting files synced locally in their respective client's folder either on Dropbox or GDrive. Much neater and organized IMO. And I don't have to constantly clean up garbage zip files with no clear project names in my downloads folder.

But for sending mixes for approval and feedback, Samply is great.

SendThisFile still works great for me and is not nexpensive.

Dropbox hangs for me sometimes. It’s SOMETIMES much slower upload than WeTransfer.

I use googledrive. Copy file/folder to my 'miscellaneous' folder there, which I've made readable to anyone with the link, copy the link and send it to the recipient(s) or post it on a website.

It must be in a different thread, but I read about samply.app somewhere here on gearspace. I've been using it for about a year, and it has worked well. It has a lossless streaming player as well as downloads. It also has a mobile app, which is great for previewing mixes on airPods or in the car.

As far as I can tell, the monthly limit only applies if you are logged in. You can still send 2GBs as often as you like (I think) if you use it anonymously, no?

Still mostly WT. I need to be able to see who has downloaded what, I like that the uploads go away after a specified time. There are days where it seems kind of slow... I tried SwissTransfer and it was ok but lacked a lot of features that WT has.

I've used MEGA before for huge files, I prefer dropbox but don't mind we transfer as well.

I’ll check that…. I’m pretty sure the sender’s email is a mandatory field you need to fill, as soon as that’s complete your GB and number of sends remaining for the month is tallied and flashes up

Using my studio server for uploads and downloads. There's a script for uploading with a username and password. Once digital audio files are ready for evaluation, I create a password-protected directory for the client and send them the username and a link. (For vinyl-pressing reference disks and master lacquers, it's UPS, FedEx, or DHL, since 'time is of the essence' regarding lacquer 'spring-back'.)
