Mkh 800 twin as mid in m/s with mkh 30

I own a single Sennheiser mkh 30. I use it almost exclusively as a side mic in M/S. I've been intending to get a second mkh 30 for bleumlein M/S, but am now considering waiting and saving a bit for the 800. Any M/S users out there care to comment on their experience with the 800 vs the single diaghram 30/40/20 as a mid mic?

As I don't have a super-cardioid mic. (eg: MKH 50) I did use my MKH 800 as a mid with my MKH 30 a while ago.

Yes, it does work very well, but would not be my first choice as it's a more awkward mounting arrangement than a 40/30, 50/30 combination.

MKH 80/800 works very well with a MKH 30 for MS, and is an easy mount with a Rycote universal suspension
Not sure that either 80 or 800 is as good as a 30 for Blumlein , or MS, you cant beat a single diaphragm for fig 8 polar
Buy another 30 they are exceptional mics

I've successfully used a pair of MKH800, both regular and Twin, in both Blumlein and M-S. For whatever reason (might be all in my head) I like the Twin a bit more. If you record all three channels it gives you a lot of flexibility in post.

So I dove in and bought an MKH800 twin. Here it is with an MKH30 in bleumlein M/S with a baroque orchestra. I'm really pleased!

I've just started using this combo, and am very happy with results so far. Most of my usage is smaller recording studio spaces, so different from the majority.
