Arrow Phase in mics

I'm not quite sure where to put this, but I'm about to record drums tomorrow at home and i'm planning on using the Glyn Johns Technique ( The Glyn Johns Drum Recording Method ).

I've got a UA 4-710 to use and I can reverse polarity on each track. I was thinking that I should reverse the polarity on the two overhead mics. Would that be a good idea to do to make up for any inconsistencies in perfectly placed mics? Or is that not needed?

Also...if mics are placed so they're good on phase and the polarities are switched, does that create a new problem?
