No idea what you are talking about.....I use variaudio on s'es without stuttering.

If you want to upload an example with a small snippet of audio and a cpr somewhere am happy to try it out and tell you if the result is the same here

It is actually not wise to attempt to pitch shift "sss" sounds as they don't have any meaningful pitch information. They are aperiodic and sound more like hiss noise than any thing else.

Not a biggie to me.
I just don't use variaudio on s'es.
Problem solved

Btw I have experienced the same thing in melodyne sometimes too.
