Avalon M5 Output Level ?

Hi,

I just purchased a Avalon M5 for a very discounted price.

Great condition physically, the only thing is the Output level sits at -10 naturally when completely unplugged.
All the photo of them online I see show them sitting at -20.

Could like be a sign of something wrong internally? It seems to work fine, but I am not a pro.

Thanks!

If it sounds good there shouldn't be a problem. The needle in the VU may have "shifted"?

You should have about 20 "clicks" when moving the Gain.

I do. Thanks for the response.

Do you know if it possible to get it fixed?

Guess you want to set the needle. If you're not, like me, proficient in fixing electronic stuff you can send it to them in Orange Co., CA.
Ask for Simona & she'll give you an RA#.

Ariel

This is old school but sometimes a static charge can cause a meter to stick. Breath on it with your mouth wide open right on the front glass. If it's static it with go down to minimum. If not you have a DC voltage offset hitting the meter. Could be a failed meter amp or a failed blocking capacitor, not familiar with the Avalon circuit, so those are general fault descriptions.
