Hey Chess,
I'm really going to try and be there. I just started at UCSB, but I guess it's only a two hour drive, I should be getting my passes in the mail anytime now. I will be chillin' with the fine folks from Millennia Media.

Feel free to do a "Gearslutz AES get together" and post a thread up about organizing it, where to meet etc... Go for a lunch!

I would!

I wish I was going!

Well, you could send along your credit card to pay for lunch and it would be the next best thing to being there...

Ashley my credit card is rather mangled up, I had to use it to pop the lock on the studio toilet after a session singer got locked in there a few weeks back. We all has a laugh about it. So... No. But otherwise I would send it, you Do understand...

Better than loaning 5 one dollar bills if they run out of toilet paper!

I think the meal idea is great, however, a "dinner" will probably be easier
for me. Plus there'd be more of a possibility of hanging out with any
exhibitors post-show.

Well, the RAP dinner will be held on Monday - Seve Lampen from Belden is the organizer. There's no reason not to fold any Gearslutz attendees into their dinner, since several people who hang here are planning on going already. Here's the info:

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Our AES INTERNET DINNER is only a couple of weeks away. Fletcher is worth the price of admission alone (if he shows!). If you want to attend send a YES to [email protected] Be sure to mention your name, your company (optional), and the number of guests you intend to bring with you.

You'll note all the information on the restaurant below. They agreed to host us again. (Obviously, they have a short memory.) I made a reservation for 70 (was 100 in past years) with my Belden credit card, so don't get me in trouble!

DATE: Monday, October 7, 2002
TIME: 7 PM
PLACE: La Bella Cucina
949 S. Figueroa St.
Los Angeles CA 90015
(213) 623-0014
…a short two-block walk up from the Convention Center.
REASON: AES Convention, Los Angeles
REAL REASON: Lemmings to the sea.
PAYMENT: We order off the regular menu, but everyone pays for themselves.
THE PLAN: Meet at the Belden AES booth (#1758) at 6 PM, when the show ends, and
we will go from there (probably 6:20 or so). Or you can just meet us at the
restaurant.

Awesome!
Will plan to attend.
Thanks Dave for the info.

Chris

P.S. I've got lots of questions about Behringer, Mackie, and Alesis
for Fletcher so he'd better show! Or was it Harleys?...

AES in LA

Just curious who's planning on going ...
*******************************

Wouldn't miss it. But its funny, now that I have a decent room to put the gear in, I don't have any money left to buy more gear. Last two shows I attended, I had a pocketful of money and no place to put the gear when I got it home. How do you get them all happening at the same time?

Yup, I'll be there all day Saturday and Sunday. Probably be mostly haunting the "underground audio" section with Trans America & Fletcher, et al.

I'll be there from Saturday to Tuesday. I'm just a little bit disapointed that Stephen Paul is not gonna be showing his mike , although he said he'll be on the PMI stand (may be a prototype). I can't wait for it though . In true Gearslut , I'm afraid I won't see much of LA but the show .

Gearslutz attendees are also welcome to attend the MusicPlayer.com dinner, to be held 24 1/2 hours earlier at the same restaurant! (In other words, it will be at 6:30 PM, Sunday, October 6th at La Bella Cucina.) MPC member Ken/Eleven Shadows guaranteed our reservation for twenty people with his own personal credit card! (Ken's a helluva guy!) Right now, we have 16 confirmed and a handful of maybes; but I'm sure that there will be room for a few more.

Jules was at last year's New York AES MusicPlayer.com dinner, so he can attest to the fact that we're a decent bunch. However, there won't be a big overlap between last year's NY crowd and this year's LA crowd. Dave Bryce, Valky, and maybe Craig Anderton will attend from last year's group.

I'd post a link for those who want further information about our dinner, but the whole site is down right now. Apparently, MusicPlayer.com is transforming into MusicGearNetwork.com at this very moment! Mantra: change is good, change is good, change is my friend...
