man overboard!!!!!

jules,
i caught you're secret post over at prosoundweb (nika's)
it would seem that with lifepreserver (nuendo) in hand you are ready to abandon the protools dreadnaught.
what gives?
i too am awaiting the aes show with in rapturious anxiety, anticipating the final revelation of the TRUE digital medium.
do you know something we do not?
pray tell valiant soldier who proudly displays the ensign of the of ALSIHAD for all to see!
i too have considered treachory, even before i have joined the ranks, i dread to sign on with the rest of the ALSIHALAHS

BUT I WANT FADERS!!!!

in the nuendo camp- all gruff and grumble at the lack of houston support.

do tell o' storied soldier is there an alternative.........a new savoir
in whose legions we could dutifully serve. a shining REAL TIME controller with which to fashion our concoctions?

my heart worries contiuously for that which i dream, but yea! cannot , alas touch.

Hail Julius!

It is not safe for me to leave Rome and travel to Losus Angelium. Carrier pigeons and errands bring news from afar, I may have to go before the great council My Client Baseus and ask their opinion, but I fear they would only resist change, I must be mindful of their views....

It is too dangerous for me to speak openly......

I hear footsteps....

(whispered) look for a group that can make a controller, if someone can, they may rule

Run! They are coming!

Enter King and Queen Digi at Alsihad Court

Queen Digi. You seem displeased,
lord, on the sudden.
King Digi. Your pardon, lady, this
news of Julius turns and weighs heavy 'pon the brow. 'Tis pity he's a *****.

'tis all deceit and intrigue
is there none whom we could trust?
the citidel is breached.
(and weep). . . . the covenant broken.
the german horde, waiting, already now at the gates.
who will yield the golden scepter
who will in REAL TIME run all 1024
and waste the wretched 256
where from afar that rumours beckon,
of a fair haired lad that holds the grail
and with potions quick and native wonder
will cut deep to edit waves like thunder,
and lightening fast with latency stricken,
add plugs that sound of sirens call

ah!
but for fools and old men to dream
while the king still lives, though crippled,
yet with a grip like a vice, and the court
a band of clowns!
ALL HAIL ALSIHAD!

and all the alsihalahs grovel and squirm
WE ARE THE BEST!!
WE HAVE ONE THE DAY!!

and the mighty german horde waits only for the word

(and the sharpened dagger cuts to the quick)

and free men will again.........be free again.

Logic will support other PT hardware. Will it play with the ProControl? Procontrol seems to have the edge of being the only non-midi control board.

PSHT. Anyone that has used pro tools and tries Nuendo knows how much it sucks, and don't care how many grammy producer's take pictures in Mix magazine with it. These days, I swear people will endorse anything.

whilst talking controllers.... does anyone know how it is that logic control claims to have 1024 step faders with a midi connection?

I am really eyeing logic now... mayhaps it will become my lifeboa in the next year..

I'm just curious about something ..

How is it that Digital Performer never seems to pop up as a viable alternative to PT rollz Not saying this just cause I use it and it does a great job ... for me. When I initially debated the options to PT, which I just wasn't crazy about, Nuendo and Logic weren't really around. Maybe today would be a different story, but DP seemed the logical choice at the time. Put my killer convertors (Benchmark) into their MOTU 308 for unfettered digital passthru and the signal sounds superb. Even got the1296 ... well ... not as good as the Benchmark but it works as far as mixing goes. Run it hands on thru HUI ... not as sexy as Pro Control .... but it aint bad !!!

DP is as deep as anything you'll need .. great for the midi minded, although my usage is 99% audio and it sounds damn good So back to my curiousity ... Considering all the advertising they plaster on mag backs and the Software depth / sound ...... why doesn't it sem to pop up as a viable alternative to PT

pitchbend is 14bit. 4 more bits than needed for 1024 step.

I am really bored hearing stuff about midi spec.

The logic control running with logic uses a midi cable.

That's about it. It's vaguely like midi. It uses a midi cable into a midi port.

Midi is a communication standard. But like any port or cable, midi ins n outs can chuck out and receive pretty much any kind of data, way more than is required to run automation.

Don't be fooled by thinking that just 'cos Pro control uses the ethernet port that somehow its 'faster'. That's complete crap, and an irrelevant argument.

Logic and logic control use their own version of midi, if you can call it midi.

I won't go into it here, have a serious look at the spec.

I can't vouch for the mackie control though.
