But they use their monopoly and don't let you buy and sell individual plugins second hand. I think this is the biggest point against them, and I'm surprised that more people don't complain about it.
Demo the mkll Fairchild! I didnt like it at first, but towards the end of my demo I tried on several different mixes and I could no longer lie to myself to NOT Spend the money for it. It tame those harse ITB high mids I always work hard to get rid off
I use VCC and Ampex 102 I could not find much use for VTM...
I have the MKII Fairchild. I like it. You using it on the 2 buss?

Yes mostly 2 buss! I used the original on vocals and drums a lot but I haven't tried the mkll on those sources yet. I'm currently using the 1176 and La2a mill on vocals and loving it! I need to try the FC mkll on other things to if it has magic, what about you? Have to tried it on other things besides the 2 buss?
Agreed, but I'm sure the engineers are not helping with the code, but listening and testing the plugin. As to name marketing, there are many companies that can use the trade name, but the plugins are very similar which make me believe that some actual modeling is going on.
Have you tried the Uad Fairchild mkll? It blows the first version away! And the 1st one was pretty good, the mkll has more weight and it's really open sounding. It's the best compressor plugin on the market for me.
I'll give the Fairchild mkII a try - thanks for the recommendation.
And don't say total sonic emulation of the hardware. I don't think that's the purpose of these plugins to begin with. Also, I think it's safe to say that plugin emulation is a way of the future (certainly not the ONLY way...But a way...), because let's face it...Who has the money to drop $30,000 on a Fairchild?
