Compressor Help for Radio Studio

Hello,

We've been trying to set up a Behringer Compressor with our mics and for some reason the compressor isn't doing anything. We're going from the mics into the input of the compressor and from the compressor output into the board. What are we doing wrong?

Thanks in advanced. Maybe the pics will help.

You can't plug the mics straight into the compressor because it operates at line level, either +4dB (pro) or -10dB (consumer), not mic level, which is a lot lower, give or take -40dB.

Mic --> console --> insert send --> compressor --> insert return

Or

Mic --> preamp --> compressor --> console

As stated above, the mic straight in won't give the compressor enough signal to engage the compression circuit.
