Can't wait to hear the next hit written with that which is forgotten six months later.

MS-20 ..... or Sub Phatty

.... which in either case is technically two words, but it's not my fault the way companies name their synths

But news of NAMM was the Korg MS-20 Mini without question. Lots of interesting stuff as ever. But this shouted the loudest.

One more word:
Modular.

NAMM was on fire this year regarding new synth modules, especially Euro Rack and the Buchla (200 format) Easel.

I disagree. First, Moog Sub Phatty (want one!). Second, Korg MS20 mini (want two of those!). Third, DSI Prophet 12 (didn't see that one coming, but want that as well!).

OK. I liked the MS20 also. However, it was disappointing to see what Roland, Kurzweil, and Yamaha rolled out. There was a lot of anticipation for something
B I G... In conclusion, Namm was great as usual but there were not enough significant offerings to really get me excited.

Dave Smith Prophet12 (OMG OMG)
Moog Sub Phatty. (Placed the order within 1 microsecond)
Casio PX5S (who would've thought that Casio would actually be interesting)
Korg MS20 (hope the build quality isn't crap)
Apogee now all IOS compatible. (Jsus Apple where is Logic on my iPad!?)
Kawai VPC-1 (finally a great piano controller)

And the Schmidt Analog monster was their again but without a estimated shipping date or price.

I'm 41 years old, and this years NAMM was the first time I've ever wished I studied harder at school.

Boring, lol.

It was a virtual NAMM. Fake keys, fake audio gear, fake boobs, etc.

I could have stayed home and watched it on the web.

Hope I didn't catch bird flu or noro virus.

One word... fun!

The 1975-76 Namm shows were great.
The 1983-84 Namm shows were mindblowing.
The 1985 Namm show was synergistic as AES displayers started flocking in
The 1995 Namm show was breathtaking.
The 2013 Namm show was fun.

All other Namms at all other years were the ones with elements of "boring". And of course, I'm the one elected this week to determine these things... right?

OK, I guess, for those of you that are into the SoftSynth thing, maybe some exciting stuff, but not much else IMHO.

I havent seen so many hardware analog synths in one NAMM since the early 80s. Softsynths, I didnt see anything new, are u sure you refer to the 2013 Winter NAMM?

Nope.
The Buchla Music Easel plus a bunch of other exciting and innovative hardware modular synth modules.
