SONY DPS-V77, Help please
Hello all,
I'm the proud new owner of a Sony dps-v77. Much of the information I found on the V77 was from this site via a google search, so first thanks for all the great info.
Now on to my problem ...
Ok, so it arrived today, couldn't wait to see what it's capable of. Hooked her up and all was not so well .. I don't think anyway. Now the seller informed me it needed a new battery but that for the time being I could still use it, just not save any patches to memory. The first thing I get is a "battery low" message, no biggie, I knew this to be the case. So I'm surfing through the presets and I notice not much sound being produced, I had to set all the effects levels on my mixer at least 3/4 to hear anything. I'm hearing the patches and they are doing what they are supposed to but the effected signal simply isn't loud enough. I checked all the cables etc, I checked the trouble shooting section of the manual and made sure it was set up internally correctly. I'm liking what I hear, just not hearing enough of it.
Ok, then it happened. While attempting to switch from bank A to B, the bank/patch LCD flickered and went blank. The main display was fine. All of a sudden no signal was registering on the input meters. I tried turning it on and off several times, letting it sit for a while etc, but still nothing. It powers up fine, the bank/patch LCD (and main LSD) come back on, I'm able to surf through all the patches in both banks, able to go into all the edit, system etc modes, but still it won't register any input signal and thus produce any sound of it's own. I checked and re-checked the system set up and made sure it was set up properly, but nothing. I also tried several times to restore it to the factory settings by holding down save and enter during power up. I read out here that "Initialized" should appear on the screen, but it just powers up normally.
Any idea? The "low battery" should have nothing to do with getting a signal, right? I opened it up and there is a housing/holder for the battery so it's a simple switch and I was going to grab a battery tomorrow, but I suspect this is not the problem, it should still register a signal. The funny thing is after the seller shipped it he sent me an email saying "if there are any problems let me know" ... I thought it somewhat strange, but passed it off as just being a responsible seller.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
