Recording Issue

Hi guys, I've had an issue with my Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer for a while. I have it connected to my ins and outs of my laptop. It's setup fine (I think), but this is my issue:

When recording my vocals in Adobe Audition 5.5 against a backing track, I want to only specifically record the vocals, not them with the backing track. I want to listen to the backing track through the headphones (which are connected to the mixer) and also listen to my voice (mic connected to mixer too), yet all I want is the voice recorded. because when I record i'm getting the whole package haha. I understand that every sound that travels through the mixer will be recorded, but I have no idea how to only record the vocals with the mic.

I am very new to this so would appreciate any kind of help, sorry for any inconvenience.
