Crossover coupling

Hey guys,

just been fiddling around doing so very budget DIY 3-way monitor designs.

I've read somewhere online that where the crossover point is for each speaker you need to have the speakers within a wavelength of the frequency where the two speakers crossover. My question is: say the wavelength at the crossover is 10cm (purely made up), is that distance between the centre of each speaker or between the edges of each cone?

Thanks, Dave
