Tracking Vocals

Ok this is my first post to the forum. I have been reading everything I can but am stuck on this one. I am my new album. Drums/guitars/bass. For my vocals I have never been satisfied with previous recordings. (examples found on www.replacingjenny.com). I have pretty good equipment for recording guitars bass and drums. I need advice about my vocals.

1. Given my voice what would be a good mic choice. (All previous vocals were thru a Neumann u47 and otari board pre)

2. My thinking for recording vocal chain is Vintech pre, empirical lab de-esser, EQ, distessor. I have 500 series pres.

3. Would anyone suggest a different pre?

4. Can anyone suggest a good EQ 500 series, mainly for subtractive purposes?

5. Distressor settings?

6. Also what guitar settings would you stay away from considering my voice?

Signal is going into an aurora lynx and then pro tools.

NO budget restrains so go for broke!

Thanks for the help in advance!

Daniel
