Gear to add auxes and/or busses to an existing mixer

Hi

Had a discussion lately where we talked about the missing groups and too little amount of aux sends on the Xdesks.

We discussed the possibility of adding such thru the inserts, instead of modding anything.

Are there any companies producing such gear?

Something like the GT8x8 Absolute from Aurora, but for all mixers.

Cheers
Murat

If you need more sends, you can pick up an Allen & Heath WZ3 12M monitor mixer (16 channel), then connect cables from each of the main mixer's direct outs (per channel) to the Heath's individual channel inputs, you'll instantly have TWELVE more sends per channel. You can link two WZ3 12M mixers together to cover 32 channels... this works on any mixer / console that has direct outputs per channel. The Heaths ain't cheap but they work real nice for the purpose.

Shure Auxpander

or just use a splitter.

(There are a lot HQ 1->6 Splitting amp cards from German broadcast manufacturers like Neumann, BFE, TAB etc. on Ebay...)

How would work that? I don't want to split the existing auxes. I need separate auxes.

I am interest in a recording quality solution for this as well as I have a very clean mixer (Acousta P100) with limited aux.

I use 2 API 8200A's which are pretty handy, well-built line mixers with a nice beefy power supply. The non "A" units don't have the XLR transformer balanced outputs.

Front panel for each 8-channels has level, pan, send 1/2, mute, insert, AFL.

They use db25 cable snake connectors on the rear;

8 inputs
8 direct outs
8 insert sends
8 insert returns
8 aux outs (2-bus, send 1/2, solo 1/2, and 2-empty)

Also a good idea. For a little more money I can get the A&H with 16 inputs and 6 stereo sends.

I wished SSL would build something like it... the user clusterchord proposed the name "Xsend", or how about "Xbuss" heh heh heh

I've been looking to add Auxes as well,
I'm sick of OEM's building Consoles these days with minimal Aux Sends and 4-8 Mix Busses. I'm using 8 Aux Sends and another 4 AES Channels for 8 FX Units (Direct Outs / Being Returned) and I just can't find a Decent Aux Expander type device anywhere! I can remember looking at the 1st SSL-924 and 8 Busses was just out of the question. XL Logic Aux Expander would have been nice! I had hoped a 948 would improve the scenario though no, getting into this territory The Trident & New Neve become options as well....The new Trident at least still carries 24 busses!

Or it's a S/H Refurb Mega Router with all the maintenance costs associated!
The API 8200A's String6Theory's using look like an option & rack-able!
