Hooking up Event 20/20BAS Monitors to my Mac?

My friend is lending me his Event 20/20 monitors. I'd like to use them so I can hear what I'm doing in Ableton, and listen to my music. So how would I go about doing this? What cables will I need? My friend said he'd also lend me his 12 channel mixer? Should I need it?

You need a "Y-cable" that is stereo 1/8 inch on one side and dual 1/4 inch mono (TS) on the other.

Inputs are XLR balanced.
Optimum would be a pair of TRS to XLR from an external soundcard/interface that's 24 bit. unless you can find a mini stereo to 2 XLR Y cable. But it won't be balanced and could result in hum or noise issues.
