Analog Tape, varispeed and guitars

I'm working on a 4 song project, and would love to get some nice big guitar sounds.

In the past few months, I've been getting good results in pro tools with guitars, pitching -/+ 12 cents and a bit of delay, but I would like to keep this project 100% on tape.

I'm running at 30 ips, and wondered if anyone had a good starting point as to how much I should vari the speed to get that same kind of effect.

The music is pretty "throw back" 70's influenced indie rock kinda thing

if you're referring to double tracked guitars, it depends on how much detuning you want. Use your ear what sounds good is good.
