I use an preciption electronics "depth charge" for my live bass rig. I get from people all the time telling me its the bast sound they ever heard. Sounds alot like the old 70`s fuzz.

Check out the Bass Hog. www.stephensonamps.com It is about $650 US but it is very cool. He is a busy cat and lead time is about 6 months. It has a headphone out, a bunch of other features and it has enough juice so you can run a small extesion cabinet as well. I also believe it is a line booster as well, plus Mark is one of the friendliest humans on the planet. The Stage Hog for guitar is damn cool as well. I tried out one of his prototypes a couple of years back.
