D/A connection
i'm currently using the A/D card in my isa 428 and connecting via optical to my motu 896. i'm using the 896 solely as a firewire go-between, and for monitoring (yuck).

i'm looking into either getting a rosetta 200 or benchmark dac-1...my question deals with D/A. by sending an optical connection from the 896 to the NEW D/A, will i bypass the motu's converters? thanks for your help! dave.

Yeah, the 896 converters are out of the picture at that point. You'll be hearing something much better with either of those units.

Mytek also makes some very nice stereo D/A converters w/ headphone amp.
