Is there a soundcard like this?
I'm not sure if there is anything like this. Anyone?

For Mac, a cheap firewire unit with 2 lightpipe ins/outs plus a s/pdif in/out? I know about the Fireface 800 which has all this. Anything smaller/cheaper?

I don't think there is an all in one solution with all of that on one card, especially an inexpensive one. You'd have to get an RME HDSP 9632 which will have the lightpipe and SPDIF, and then a seperate Firewire card, so you'll need two free slots. I'm a little confused though, you said 'soundcard' in the title which implies a PCI card, and then mention the Firewire 800 unit, which is a standalone rackmounted A/D/A converter with digital and analog i/o.

Focusrite Saffire 26 i/o. Haven't used it...no quality judgements. Just know that it fits your description
