Deluxe Mastering opens in Melbourne

Hi guys,

Thought I'd drop in seeing as Jules was good enough to give us Aussies a little piece of his real estate this week.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I have opened a new mastering suite in Melbourne designed by George Augspurger. He is flying in from LA this week to come and do final tweaks.

Anyone who is interested in having a sticky beak and a cuppa is welcome to do so by contacting me. I have tried to post pics but have had some issues doing so.

The new website will be up by next Monday.
I can be contacted either on

Just as the music world is in retreat Tony builds a great new studio for his growing business!

One of the nicest looking new rooms I've seen in a long while, too

of course, Tony - one of the nicest geezers you'll ever meet!

All the best, mate!

(hopefully I can upload these pix?)

Don't want to be a party pooper but that room looks a little cold and functional to me - which doesn't matter with regards to the sound of course.

Is there any more furniture, features etc going in?

Absolutely Bingo, that's why I wrote it.

But, it's a valid question - I'm always looking for new mastering possibilties and the 'feel' can matter to the artist. Shouldn't but it can.

Wasn't trying to burst your bubble, just asking, carry on.

I definitely agree an agreeable aesthetic certainly can help. If you are going to attend you need to feel comfortable in the environment. My view was always after visiting many mastering suites around the world that the bettter performing rooms were fairly minimal so that you had the least amount of soundwaves bouncing off this and that.......

My room has a very large comfy black leather couch on a raised rear platform with side tables and plenty of distractions.

At this stage I have no intention to place anything else in the front part of the room except for maybe a large LCD.

The place feels more like a nice New York loft style apartment with a nice room than a commercial facility.
If you're ever in town you are most welcome to drop in and hang out.

Hi tony, you mastered a single for my band "the feelers" a couple of years back, did you know that the album is now triple platinum here? The actual album was mastered by howie weinberg in the end.

anyway, you were saying that you hope the wife doesn't find out about your new converters at the time, what did she say about the new studio !?!

Congrats on the triple platinum album!!! Howie is great! Since Mrs Bear has understood that gear for me is like shoes for he and a new studio for me is like a new wardrobe for her.......all is good in the Mantz residence.
