Using flux or flux infused solder

Do you use flux when soldering mic and instrument cable? I've never soldered before but have both types of cable and XLR, TRS, and TS connectors that I need to assemble.

The solder I have lying around is flux-infused. Is flux necessary when using it?

Should I get normal solder? If so, what kind? Do you use flux in addition to regular solder?

Thanks!

I've always used rosin core. Sometimes lead free, sometimes good old 60-40. You definitely need some kind of flux to get it to flow without melting all your wire insulation.
