Sigh.....how much will it be?

It's good. My favorite by far of the modeling/tape emulation type plugs. Really helps the snare sit better in a digital mix. Also acoustic guitar sounds more like what you'd expect comin off analog tape. Whatever it's doing in the high frequencies is really nice. I've never heard a FATSO, but I would imagine this is a similar effect.

As with a lot of Mr. Hill's "coloring tools," Phoenix can be very subtle.

I use a spider as well, and already find the Phoenix much more useable than the tape knob on the spider.

No matter how hard you may try and however good it sounds, you'd still feel like you were dialling in the Tellytubbys using that interface. Astoundingly dreadful.

You know, I've got a niece who's a singer...perhaps she should sing all my BV's

What really makes me laugh is when you click on the 'Click Here For A Larger Image' link, the GUI comes up in a window entitled 'Product Detail'. Well I looked and couldn't find any!

Lol... We talked about that last October.I'm kinda suprised Crane Song didn't listen.

At any rate, it will be nice to not have to carry around the Dither CD with me place to place.

I've wondered for a while what that's all about... how does it work, and what exactly does it do?

Very simple. Take the CD, copy the audio file to a stereo track, and add it into the mix at minus 25 DB. Gives you a little more fullness, depending on how you are mixing and what digital system you are on. If you want to hear an example of a release I've used it on, PM me and I'll give you a specific example you can pick up at the record store.

Of course, you don't have the controls PHOENIX gives you.

Do you use it instead of any other dither when bouncing from 24 to 16 bits, or in addition to?

Thanks

Without. For $30, it not bad for dither you, in theory, can use on any digital platform. I think they still sell them on their website. By the way, thanks to Brad for clueing me into this when they 1st came out.

Hey e-cue

Thanks for the offer... your PM box bounced me back (apparently it's full). I guess it's cheap enough to take a punt?

Correct, but marketed to achieve the similar ends.

The PHOENIX plug-in suite provides a wide range of choices to make your digital world sound warmer, fatter, and more analog. The plug-ins can be somewhat subtle, but the cumulative affect when used on a number of tracks can bring back the warmth and richness which only analog recording has been able to provide.

You should hear an added fullness or warmth in the low frequenices
I heard Scott compare the two in the past. Can't wait to check it out.

Well I can't say I've heard the HEDD but this is sure better than the inflator for tape saturation effect, I guess opal is hard hitting and the others being light and bright.

I would go for the Crane Plug on all channels and inflator to big up the RMS on final.

These are cool, as you can hear the effect, but I'm not doubting the fact the others are better across individual trks.

Wanna here the Hedd users op's though?????

It is extremely DSP efficient. It will run ABOUT 20 instances on ONE chip at 44.1k on an HD card.

Downloaded the demo today, it sounds great, I'm in for sure.

How much is it?

Stefan Nowak

PS The plug in is incredibly DSP efficient. Also being mulitshell compatible it shares with the Sony stuff and digi delays.

That's good news DUY Tape is heavy going on the DSP.

It sounds super.

Anyone know how much it goes for?

The geniuses on the DUC don't realize that it is louder (much like HEDD) because the plugin utilizes parallel processing (much like HEDD) - the original audio is untouched and the harmonic data is added to the original signal. With most plugs, it is a multiplication algorithm...
