I also use the 609 silver as a bottom snare mic and have always liked the results. I never have been too fond of it on guitar cabs though.

i love my 609 as a live amp mic- you don't need a stand for it) You can simply hang it from the cab and it works)
When Recording I found that placing it a little off the grille makes it sound better then sm57. Just move it a couple of inches away- and it sounds so much better!
Tried it on vocals- got lots of pops, even though I used a pop filter...
Want to try it on a snare pretty bad

Except a huge price difference between the original 609 and the 609 silver

so what about the 509 blackfire? i never came across a 409 so i can 't compare but the 509 blackfire sounds a lot better in my opinion.

Anyway when we are talking about mic's i think you can't say this one 's better then the other in that level of quality mics, i think that 's just personal taste? Or am i wrong?

Yeah, I've got 609's permanently setup on all my amp cabs when live tracking. When doing overdubs or guitar tracks I'll sometimes use an SM7 instead, but at least half the time the 609 stays.

Check out the 906 too. My favorite dynamic for amps.
