Some tips on an audio interface

In all my stupidity, I opened this thread in the studio building/acoustics forum first but I've realised that this is probably the place for it so I moved it. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Anyays, I've been planning on buying an audio interface for some time now. What I basically want to do is record electric guitars and bass through it. Will plug them directly to the interface, and run them through guitar rig or something. All I want to do is get the ideas I have recorded, so they sound decent.

Do you have any tips or recomendations? My computers only got USB ports, so it will have to be one of those. I'm not after something really fancy (around 3-400$), just want a nice and quick way to store ideas.

I should mention that I have no experience of recording stuff except from being in the studio with my band. Im really getting into this though and would love to learn more about it! Thanks for your help!
