What does MIDI IN mean on a drum machine?

I'm getting a fairly old drum machine and it has MIDI IN so what can I do with MIDI IN? Can I hook it up to my computer and add loops to it or no?

You hook the midi out from your computer to the midi in of the drum machine and make your drum machine play in sync with your computer. For example; you create a loop in your DAW, set it to play back at a particular tempo, set your DAW to send midi tempo, set the drum machine to receive midi tempo and badda bing! Your drum machine and DAW are playing back together in perfect time.

Or, if you hook any other MIDI device to it, That device, keyboard or another drum machine, will play its sounds. Kinda like a drum module.
