Yamaha sw10 subwoofer ????????
I can't find that on google ?
Is this the right model reference?
I am looking for the best suwoofer for my NS10 speakers.
Cheers
Sergio
Yes. This is the right model reference. I’ve got it paired with a couple of NS10.
I got to say been experimenting with different amps and for those that said u need t get a good amp to hear the difference on the ns10’s man were u right. It’s night and day when they are powered right.
No, this has to be a misunderstanding. You should get an amp that has plenty of power but run it at low volume levels. The NS-10s were originally designed as hifi speakers to sit on bookshelves, they aren’t meant to be driven hard at all. If you pair them with a Yamaha hifi amp you’ll get a good, clean sound.
If you run NS-10's with clean power like a Bryston, you can push them pretty loud. I saw it all the time in big studios working on hip hop and the woofers looked like they're going to pop out of the NS-10's they were banging it so loud. Never blew them though.

OK, the question to me is, why? What for? Can you not listen to music at "normal" levels? Will the music get better when played loud..?
When you raise the volume to unrealistic levels, inevitably, distortion increases. This results in an inaccurate monitoring situation which kind of defeats the purpose.
The NS-10s were designed as hifi speakers to sit on bookshelves, not to simulate dance venues.

Anyway...
This was the engineer listening at those levels. Not me.
the original sub for NS10 was YST-SW100, smaller version was YST-SW50, the best Yamaha sub was SW10, I also recommed Tannoy TS10 and Miller Kreisel subwoofers
Hello,
Are you getting good results with using Tannoy TS10 subwoofer with your Yamaha NS10 ?
Thanks for sharing your experience
Cheers

Has any of you ever heard or own the Yamaha NS-40 speakers ??
They seem to be very rare.
I can't find anything on gearspace about them!
Any user here ??
Thanks

I have never heard them - but gosh they look awesome : )
James Lugo said they were too bright with a 4b ( don't remember what revision). The other day I was at a studio and they were powered by the new Yamaha PX3 amp, sounding incredible and full in the whole spectrum.
hey iv just brought a px3 amp to run my ns10m monitors but im not too sure how to setup the px3 up to run them properly! im just not liking the way they sound compared to my old amp would anyone on here know how to set the px3 properly what settings use and so on?

I'm not a PX3 user, but I see it has a tuning section (eq?) . Try to eq them at your taste and if you can run room measurement it could be even better
Hi,
I power my NS-10M Studio with SMSL SA-98E.
Those are cheap class D amp with 2x160W.
To me the combination sounds really good and it takes very little space on my desk.
But I just found this thread and started to ask myself whether a "proper" amp would give me even better result.
Is there anybody who had the chance top compare some class D amp with the others classic amps ?
