DAW Summing CD by Lynn Fuston

Did anyone here help in the preparation and/or evaluation of this new CD? The CD is a comparison of many digital and analog summing busses including ProTools, D2B, SSl, etc.

Some very interesting results which seem to debunk much of the common folklore. Check out this thread on the DUC and the subsequent links if you want to see the detailed information about the CD.

Hey John,

There is long post in the High End forumn on it.

Don't worry, we've been talking about for a while... and the discussions will continue.

Thanks. I'll check it out. I searched for it but came up empty before I posted this thread.

I submitted a SUM from the Panasonic DA7 [digital hardware mixer]...

Some of the 'results' of the entire project can be viewed here:

Kevin,
How do you think your PT6 OSX version sounded in relation to the other formats? Are you satisfied with PT6? Or has this CD started the wheels turning?
Thanks,
Makoto

Makoto, I can't stress enough how this is subjective. You might hate what I think sounds pretty good. In the test I was really interested how many of the platforms I would find "unusable," or at least "strongly-not-preferable-to-use-on-anything-I-care-about."

There were some platforms I felt fell into that category. Mine was not one of them. But I did learn what I deem to be weaknesses/characterisitics in PT6 and certain tweaks I think improve the sound. That's what its all about to me....learning how to get a little better with what you have.

But you really have to hear for yourself. Your mileage will vary....for the most part.
