Big Metal snare EQ

Hello all, I was wondering if you could give me some basic EQ settings for a big heavy metal snare. Some settings to get me started would be appreciated, also some Tom EQ settings if you will.

Thanks!

It depends on the source material, but generally a HP at 150hz and some top boost around 5k will help out a snare. Try boosting at 250hz to get some girth. Mid cuts at 500ish with a wide Q on toms will generally do the trick.

boost at 200Hz, control the attack with 5k - 7k (depends on the snare).

create a send and smash that buss, add some 10k or 7k, whichever sounds better for that snare.

metal snares are reeeeeeeally bright.

for toms, check the 4k - 6k region to add some attack. sometimes i'll add a little 10k to give it some thwack. everything to taste.

oh yeah, and check out Steven Slate Drums. they'll make everything i said even easier.
